No-Limit Tourney Quiz, by Barry Tanenbaum
In a limit HE tournament, blinds are 200-100.I just put in he small blind, and have $650 left.I hold As5s.All fold to the guy 2 off the button, who limps. The rest fold to me.I can:
A) Call and see the flop. Raise, try to kill the BB and win vs the limper (who typically holds a weakish hand for this play)
B) Fold and keep my $650 for seven more hands before the blinds get to me
What would you do?.
Answer.
What I did was raise, feeling this was a good chance to get back into the game.I did not think my $650 would impress anyone if I played a hand later. The BB failed to fold, though, and the limper called. Flop came KsKhQc. I can:
A) Check and fold to a bet, keeping my $550 for later or
B) Bet and hope to win it right here. What would you do?
OK, I bet, optimistically. BB folded, and limper called.I decided I would give up and keep my $350 unless a spade came...if it did, I would bet hoping to either win it or catch a flush.Turn was 9s.OK, I bet and limper called.I did not catch a flush, and he showed JdTd...He made his straight on the turn.
